here’s something that’s had me worried sick for the past couple of days:

my boyfriend leaves for tour at the end of this month and he’ll be gone for all of july.
now don’t get me wrong, i’m extremely excited for him, it’s the first time he’ll be out for that long and i know he loves touring so he’s gonna have a blast and and he’ll get to play a bunch of places he’s never played before and he’ll finally be able to see the west coast and all that…
he’ll love it.

i’m just trying to figure out how to cope with him being gone.
he’s been on tour before but never longer than two weeks and it was never really that bad, so i keep telling myself it’s only two more weeks longer than usual, but still.
plus, it’ll be the longest we’ve been apart since we’ve been together.
he doesn’t have a laptop or a 4s so we can’t skype or facetime.
and his battery doesn’t last at all so i know his phone is always going to be dead.

the biggest problem with that is he’s the main person i interact with on a daily basis, from the moment we wake up in the morning til we pass out mid-conversation with each other, and just thinking about him leaving is already giving me separation anxiety.
it doesn’t help that i recently cut ties with all the magazines i freelanced with, so now i don’t even have deadlines to keep me busy.
all i’ve got is now is working retail until i figure out my next career move so i really don’t have anything to occupy my time anymore besides him, and now that he won’t be around as much, it’s like, what am i gonna do with myself?

there are a few things i can do to kinda keep busy, i guess.
since i’m in the process of finding my next job in the journalism field, i can devote most of my time to searching job boards and working on my resume and things like that.
i also want to re-take the GRE in the fall so i could start studying as of now, and maybe finding workshops and tutoring sessions for the parts that i need help with.
and i could probably work on getting better at guitar and get back to writing my own songs again?
i could also start running again, just to clear my head and relieve stress.

before he leaves, i’m going through all his old clothes for shirts he doesn’t want anymore so i can take them and cut them up into tops for the summer. i always wear his clothes when i miss him, so that will help when the feeling gets too unbearable. i could also probably borrow some of his records and dvds and comics just to have something tangible to hold and look at and listen to when i miss him. and maybe before he leaves i can get him a juice pack for his phone so he’ll always have a back up whenever he wants to get in touch on his long van drives.

so, there a lot of things i can do, i guess.
now that i see it written down, it seems like it’s doable.
still not looking forward to it though.
we’ve got another month before he leaves, so i’m gonna try to stop worrying so much and just focus on enjoying the time i’ll get to spend with him before he’s gone.
